A Day in the Life of a HVAC Service Professional: Meeting Buffalo’s Winter Challenges

1 min read

6:00 AM – Rise and Shine

The day starts early when you’re in the heating and cooling business, especially during Buffalo’s harsh winters. After checking my service schedule on the T-Mark Plumbing, Heating & Cooling dashboard, I grab my thermal diagnostic equipment and head out to my first call in Tonawanda.

7:30 AM – First Emergency Call

A family in Kenmore wakes up to a cold house. Their furnace stopped working overnight, and with temperatures hovering around 20°F, this becomes our priority call. These situations remind me why I love this job – helping families stay warm and safe.

Our Daily Checklist:

  • Safety equipment inspection
  • Tools and parts inventory
  • Emergency response supplies check
  • Vehicle maintenance verification
  • Customer communication updates

12:00 PM – Scheduled Maintenance

After handling two emergency calls, I head to Hamburg for scheduled furnace maintenance. Preventative care is crucial in our industry, helping homeowners avoid those dreaded middle-of-the-night breakdowns.

3:00 PM – Furnace Replacement Consultation

In Cheektowaga, I meet with homeowners to discuss replacing their aging heating system. Education is a big part of our job, helping customers understand their options and make informed decisions about their home comfort systems.

5:00 PM – Final Service Call

The day wraps up in Orchard Park with an electrical service call. Being certified across multiple disciplines means we can handle various home service needs efficiently.

Working at T-Mark means being ready for anything while serving our Western New York communities. Every day brings new challenges and opportunities to help our neighbors stay comfortable and safe in their homes.
